Got a call from my good friend John Campbell a couple of Friday nights ago needing a tow because the engine had let go in his 72 Stage 1. He was really bummed out to say the least. Anyway, nothing you can do now so the Massholes got together to see what we could do to get Johnny up and running again. Wolverine offered up a bay in his shop and we got the car down there and ripped the destroyed powerplant out of there. I offered up my spare 455 for Johnny to put in his car.The engine was complete except for the parts that Wolverine had gotten for some of his projects(fuel pump, water pump, and carb). So we swapped over the fuel and water pump and changed the intakes (stock to B4B)...used Johnnys Holley etc....starter, solenoid...etc... So myself, Wolverine, Dave Hanlon, and Johnny went to work over a couple of nights and did the swap. (Did'nt we just go through this in Salem??) Ok...Ok...you guys want to see the carnage right??? Pics coming in a minute.
My spare-71 TR 455- I told Johnny that I had no idea of the miles, condition, wear and tear, etc...what I do know is that it "did rubber" when I had it in my 70.
Another KABOOM!!!!! You Massholes are getting good at it. Good to see everybody helping each other when needed. This Buick community never ceases to amaze me. Good job guys! :beer :beer :beer :beer :3gears: :beer :beer :beer
I'm surprised that motor blew up on Johnny. I know he babies that car and never really beats on it! ou: :beer to the Massholes for pulling together to help each other once again. You guys are tight.
i was honestly driving like a proper citizen not passing or speeding or pushing it at all. i always keep a eye on the oil, temp guages and everything looked fine. i get a couple miles down I-93 when out of nowhere kaboom. something just failed. o No: you know that old saying life s^(ks then you blow your motor :ball:
Stage Done Johnny and Wolverine (those two good friends of mine) have both let me know loud and clear that my engine is next! They're both pissed that the guy that has the heaviest foot has'nt detonated his big block yet! Don't worry boys; I'm trying like hell!!! And I know of a couple of guys that are going to help me do the swap too!
Now we know where all the vintage 455 blocks are going to use! Sheesh, these guys keep this up Bulldog is gonna give em a huge group discount!
I don't believe it for one second! C'mon John, we're your friends, you can tell us... :Brow:  Now would that be driving like a proper citizen from say, Iowa, or a proper citizen from Boston? Hey, I saw first hand your highway manners on the caravan out to Salem, remember? You know, lay back in the right lane, then punch it to the floor and cut out into the left until 100 or so, then cut back to the right, over and over again... You guys need to start modding up these motors you're throwing in. As long as you're at it, at least a cam! :beer
