I have a Stage-1 455 I am building. A bit more than stock with a TA C-110 cam and SP-1 intake and maybe a set of headers. Wanted to know if it's ok to run a new stock stage-1 fuel pump I've been hanging onto for a number of years vs. invest in a electric fuel pump & regulator. ***The only issue with the mech fuel pump I've read about in the past I can see being an issue is that I am running a double roller timing chain. Please enlighten me with any specifics and or can and can nots*** Aloha & Thanks!:beers2: Scott
You will have to grind the arm of the stock pump if you are using a double roller chain. My opinion is that that an electric helper pump is best. :TU: An old pump you have had for years probably has a bad/rotted/cracked diaghram. You would be best off with a new pump.
If you run the T/A cover, there's no need to grind the arm. They relocated the fuel pump mount a little to compensate. With my 308S and Holley 1000, the stock Stage 1 pump cant keep up at the track. You could try using the RobbMc mechanical pump. Best of both worlds perhaps?
Get a 12v Aeromotive pump and an adjustable regulator-Mallory makes a nice little one- and you'll be set- the Aeromotive will support up to 550hp N/A if my memory is correct. Robert
I have a stage1 pump in my car, and it runs out of fuel at half track. 450hp... Really annoying:rant:

I am not against electric, just wanted to try and save some $$ and use what I have on hand.
Love to buy the TA cover, but not for their price!! That's outrageous! Some might disagree w/me, but oh well:beers2:

Thanks for all the input. I have priced a aeromotive fuel pump and regulator from summit racing and hope thats going to be what I need. Fuel pump #11203 & regulator #13301... Aloha & Thanks,:beers2: Scott
If you want to save a few bucks I have had good luck with my Robbmc pump. http://www.robbmcperformance.com/products/regulator.html
