You can get up to 2000 alone for the correct carb let alone up to 500 for the correct coded distributor...Whatever the number of the VIN,I am sure I have the car its out of...

Angmonique, look for the VIN and engine codes on the "pads" between the spark plug holes. They're visible on the LHS of the engine, and are actually stamped into the top of the engine block which are visible when looking down at the engine. Your're looking for an "SS" stamp between the 5 & 7 spark plugs and a six digit # between the 1 & 3 holes. This # will correspond to the last six digits of the original vehicles VIN. There should also be an "H" stamped in this area, perhaps haphazardly. They can be hard to see and if the engine is dirty (or has been sitting for a while) clean the area off with a mild thinner or brakeclean first. BTW, hope I haven't mixed these locations up...good luck!

Even if you find the SS stamping or the VIN, please provide us the carb and distributor part numbers. That would help determine the value, and as stated above, those two pieces are worth a lot depending on those part numbers. If he does list it on ebay, all the above questions will certainly be asked by all interested bidders. Good luck!

72 Stage 1 parts do not bring what a 70 will but there are interested buyers for all Stage 1 parts ( me included) . If I am not mistaken the carb thats refered to was date coded for almost any 1970 GSX . I imagine thats why it brought the price .

I have a 70 GS stage 1 Ragtop that had the motor pulled out by a dealer in 1973 for the gas crunch... the motor was then used for something else, and am trying to find an original stage 1 motor. lemme know what you want for it... I cant afford 2500 for it... but maybe you'll help out someone who wants to get a car like that back original....
