Does anyone have the stainless trunk trim pieces that go at the bottom of the deck lid and the rear quarters for a 1970 GS? Were they an option, or were they standard on all GS cars? Thanks.
Hard to say if it was an option or standard My 70 GS 455 stage one has the stainless steel trim on the trunk but there's nothing there about it on the window sticker or the Wayne Roberts report. I think it was standard on a 70 GS 455.
Standard on the GS455 in 1970. Optional on the GS350 in 1970. An option on all 1971 and 1972 Gran Sports.
I have a set of them, from my 70 GS350,the long one in the middle is stainless steel, but I think the 2 side ones are made of pot metal.Bruno.
I agree with Jim and the order forms confirm this to be correct as well. It was shown as option W2 "Custom Upper Peak & rear Body Moldings" for all three year models and standard only on the '70 big block cars (except not available on the '70 GSX).
If Bruno can't help with your needs I do have 1) (OE Original) Center Piece as well as the side pcs that are Reproduced from TPP.
I have rechromed original ends that I had Keystone LKQ redo. They were mint originals to begin with, and still cost about $350.00 to rechrome. I also have the center that needs polished. These came on my 70 GS 350,which also has the peak reveal moldings. I’d rather have none of it.
Mine is all original.in very good condition,and I'll take $75.00 plus shipping for the 3 pieces.If interested,shoot me a PM.Bruno.
Jim, I am assuming that if they were standard on the GS 455 cars, they were also standard on the Stage 1 cars. My car is a Stage 1 car. Thank you for any help.
In '70 the trunk mldg. was std. on GS 455 & the W2 option was only for upper peak mldg. (of all things, my stripper Stage 1 4-sp has it). On GS 350 the W2 option included both the trunk & upper peak. I wonder what the cost difference was? @Mike Trom would probably know.
