alrite guys...i'm somewhat new to the rebuild thing and need some advice, anything really, you can give me on rebuilding my 1981 Buick Electra Limited into a respectable street car. What I'm running is the stock Olds 307 v-8 and I guess a TH400r trans? I know two major things needs to be done. First, my cat. converter most surely needs to be cleaned out, and my rear gears suck. I think stock gears for an 81 Electra are what, 2.17? I can't for anything get those tires to squeak! Anyways, any ideas on what else to do, or to elaborate on the above would be great. I've learned alot from this forum, but sadly I'm stuck with an oddball engine? ou: thanks in advance, cmdr
I thought the modelyear 1981 Electra's had the OD trans, except for the diesels? Diesel had gearing somewhere in the 2.40:1 region, others 3.08:1 or 3.23:1
yes, you're right...i'm just stupid and got my transmissions wrong....it does have OD....so which trans do i have? i thought it was the 200-4r but i might be wrong ( and probably am ) thanks for the correction and if you have ANYTHING else please let me know! cmdr
