What is the chance of finding a Nut for a Starwars Air Cleaner?

    How about a base?

You never know unless you ask:3gears:

    Thanks

Jerry Salley makes a very nice repo hold down top nut for the Starwars, I have bought several and like them alot.

The base, good luck, hope you have lots of money for that part. I have seen em go $500 plus.
I'll sell you one for $750, and throw in an aircleaner with NOS emblem and correct top nut.

I see Starwars aircleaners for sale at swapmeets slightly often. But the nut and especially the base is always missing. Seems that someone would repro the base since there are quite a few housings available used and I think that the fiberglass housing is being repopped by someone.

Any reason you could not use a regular base and cut it down?

It shouldn't be impossible to fabricate one from a base on another GM Qjet air cleaner. There should be plenty out there to work with.

Since it's so much under the Star wars portion it won't be noticed by the average person.

Anybody heard prices on a repo nut?

The base wouldn't be impossible to repro. The starwars base is very unique, though. I have '67 Wildcat convertible that has the starwars setup. I have compared the base to many other different GM aircleaner assemblies that I have collected.Nothing compares a close resemblance at all. I understand that the airfilter element is unique to this aircleaner. I haven't had to replace mine yet,but kind of dread it when it's time.

If I remember correctly, Jerry charges something like $30 for it. You would have to call to verify.

A base can easily be made from the lower section of a 2 piece chrome air cleaner unit. You can buy them all day long for $15.00 and toss the lid away. The smaller ones work better, that way you dont have to do much cutting to make it fit.
