Hey y'all, been snooping around the board for a while now and so far looks like a good place to visit every now and again. Just thought i'd start myself a thread and put a couple of pics on it. Hope you guys and gals like 'em.
Whoa, Murph! Slick engine bay! (Car, too!) How's she run? I'd love to have a hardtop for the stiffer body, and "modifyability" of a "less rare" car. You're missing some nice late-fall days here in the midwest, where it's a balmy 70 degrees, with bright cloudless skies and dry air. Wish I had my front hub fixed, so I could go to the track tonight...
Hey, thanks for the compliments Dave! Just picked it up in August while I was home on leave.... had some trouble with getting it registered, so I only got to drive it for a couple of days before having to come back to iceland. Never got a chance to make a pass with it but she's got a pro-built 70 stage 1 mill with a 12 bolt posi...and laughing gas. Its not a factory built stage one car but fast enough for me at the moment ( and a whole lot more affordable) It definately gives me something to look foward too when I get back though. The pics were taken at my folks house up in Lagrange which is about an hour north of Ft. Wayne so I know what you mean about some nice fall weather.....Its snowing here....and dark:ball: What did you do to the front hub if you don't mind me asking?
Murph, Thank you for defending our liberties! We'll all be here when you get back. Hope you can make the BPG Nationals next year. Nice engine shot.
Hey everybody thanks for all the positive feedback! Yeah thats what I the navy told me before I got here L&C .... I think they tell people that to help tourism uzzled: Its kinda funny....they also told me there was a beautiful woman behind every tree...what they didn't tell me is that there are NO trees here ou: In a way they are right though Iceland is more green, everything is covered in moss. It's not too bad though, the Icelanders are starting to get into drag racing so there is some detroit iron around. They dont know anything about buicks though....makes me wish I had the GS up here. :Brow:
Murph, Sorry for the long delay in reply; my house is a three headed monster which is eating my time, energy and finanaces at an incredible rate!! The problem with the hub is that a wheel bearing seized, and chewed out the inside of the hub, to where it would be prohibitively expensive to repair. I'm told that the hub can be pressed off of the aluminum drum and replaced, but I'm having trouble even finding a Chevelle hub to use for it. I was looking forward to some more dragstrip time, as I'm slowly but surely eating away at that 12 second barrier, and had just made some new strides. Now it's starting to rain almost every day, telling me that track time may be over in Indiana till spring. Around here, you never know. Below is a photo of the Buick on a nice sunny day last year. My avatar is a photo of the Buick at the track in Ennis, Texas, where I'm stomping on my buddy's extremely cool '69 Cobra Jet Mustang. Here are a couple links to buildup photos; http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=viewall&albumID=28239441 http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=viewall&albumID=28085329 Again, sorry for the delay in response, it's great to talk with you, and I hope you're doing well. Dave
