Question for you veteran racers. Due to the fact that manual gear boxes are hard to find whats the best/safest way to use a power box as a manual. I've heard of some guys just looping the hose from port to port. And I've also heard that you should totally empty the box out and use some kind of vent so air won't be trapped inside and possibly cause a lock up. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
Flaming River actually has a brand new manual box and the pittman arms . Thier site is www.flamingriver.com Hope this helps George
Thanks guys but this project is going to be a low-buck operation. Spending top dollar on a new setup or getting into a bidding war for a rare manual box and pitman arm won't be an option. I know there are a lot of guys with strip cars that are still using the power gearbox. I just need to know the best way to do it.
Todd, There's a list of compatible manual boxes on Georges site here: http://www.buickperformance.com/steering.htm Maybe you can find one in a local junkyard....
You can do either........Think about it,Plugged is the same as a loop o No: I looped mine on a former racecar an ran it like that for years...... Now with the Rack I can "palm" it turning out of the staging lanes at Norwalk :Brow:
Thanks Gary. I'll probably just loop it then. Maybe down the road I'll be able to do it up right. I saw pics of your setup and it's pretty sweet. :bglasses:
