I just swapped out my steering box and flex joint. I was very careful to assemble everything. However, my steering wheel is not strait. :Dou:

The front end is perfectly aligned.

How do I get the steering wheel aligned?

Can I "reclock" the flex coupling?

    Thanks

    BTW - car is a 70.

Tie-Rods need to be turned - both sides equal amounts

Yea, tie rods take care of that. But make sure that it's where you want. If you have a sport steering wheel you actually don't want the spoke straight down as that is where most people put there hand while cruising down the highway.

    Steering Wheel Alignment!

You need to remember that the steering box MUST be centered first. You do that by turning the wheel from lock to lock and counting the turns, then turn it 1/2 this number of turns from one stop. that is the center of the box, if all is well your wheel should be centered then, if the wheel is off you will have to move it to get it centered (on the shaft). Now if you have the box on center and the wheel centered, lock the wheel and adjust the tie rod ends for the correct toe. Also the pitman arm usually will point straight back when the box is on center. It is important the the box is on center when the car goes straight down the road as this is the high point of the box and has less "play" here. Don't short cut this if you want a correct driving car.
