Steering wheel, horn cable connection?

I can't figure out how to connect the wire that is connected to the wheel that you push to make the horn sound...to the column. This is what my chassis manual shows but I still don't get how it goes together...

It's a "force fit" you just press it in and it should stay there. Sometimes you need to push it in with a small scewdriver. Sometimes the fit is worn + loose, you can wrap a tiny piece of duct tape or elec tape around the contact assembly and force it in.

Thanks for the reply. So to clarify, in the hole for the turn indicator cancel cam, goes the spring, then the contact brass rod, then the insulator peice, and the contact wire from the cap just slides in the whole and sits there?

The insulator piece (looks more like a collar) has a small stud protruding from the side which hooks into the tower coming off the cancell cam. Its similar to how a brake lamp fits into a tail light socket. Like a push in and twist deal

Ok two things. The steering wheel itself has a whole in it that the stud from the cancel cam goes into. But because of that whole the spring and insulator just fly through the steering wheel. So what stops these from flying out?

And does the wire from the actuator bar hook up to anything?

Ok...what Jason told you doesn't apply to that 67 set-up. That's how MOST horn contacts go in, you twist them like a tail bulb. The 67 is a force fit. The part with the wires from the wheel just jams in the hole, there is no tab to twist it in. If you look at it close (the part that jams in) you will see how it's slightly thicker at the center. My 69 442 has the same setup, force fit. If it won't stay in, and the spring makes it push out, you need to push it in further. Make a tiny strip of duct tape like 3/8" wide by 1" long or so, wrap it around the black plastic deal with the wires and stuff it in there! It works I've done it numerous times.

This can't be right. First of all the wire doesn't have enough slack to even reach deep enough in the whole and there is no way it's gonna stay in there.

My only question is what stops the horn from sticking on? I installed everything last night and the horn stuck for a second till I took the cap off. Is the spring inside the cancel cam grounding to the wheel?

The black buton part should be spring loaded in the chrome bezel, if I'm not mistaken.

That's what I thought but the horn stuck on and it wasn't the button..

You didn't forget to put that little insulator piece in, did you?

I don't have the insulator piece. What does that do?
