Hi Folks, I've got a 66 Buick Skylark that I've owned since 1970. It has a 455 Stage 1 that I installed in 1972 the car runs great (Very quick but that goes without saying) Last year the car only started sometimes. Through the process of elimination I determined the Stinger ignition coil was no good. Can any one tell me what coil can be used to replace the Stinger Coil. The factory coil will not work with the Stinger system. I reinstall the factory distributor with points the Stinger coil won't work with the points but the factory coil will .Thanks in advance, Rodger

    Stinger Replacement Coil

I just went through this same issue with one of my cars. The Stinger coil was cooked due to the voltage regulator overcharging. I contacted the distributor for Stinger products, Midway Industries(714-373-6155) and was told to purchase a Borg Warner coil, E 30 P at NAPA. When I went to NAPA, they didn't have the Borg Warner coil but tried to sell me a cross reference coil. Called Midway again and was told that Pep Boys stocks Borg Warner coils. I purchased one from PB for about $30.

So far, it seems to work well in the car.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Jim and Larry for your quick response .I live in Canada we have no Pep Boys up here but I will search the internet to try and find a Pep Boys close to the border .The # of the coil is a great help .I'll call Borg to see who sells them in Canada. I think the coil got cooked from engine heat over all those years. Thanks Again Guys
