Can anyone tell me what the stock slip yoke length is for a 70 Skylark? I see different lengths that are only slightly longer/shorter. 5.812, 5.47, 5.469, 5.625, 5.50.
When you are ordering a new driveshaft, most shops will tell you to bottom out the front yoke in the transmission, and then pull it out 1". I doubt a difference of 3/10" is going to make any difference. 5 1/2" is probably fine. What is in the car now? https://www.qa1.net/tech-center/car...tom-driveshaft/how-do-i-measure-my-driveshaft
I pulled the rear ended assembly with the drive shaft years ago from a 72 with an 8.5. Rebuilt and replaced everything but kept the stock slip yoke for some reason. When I picked up my driveshaft from the balancing shop the guy told me I should replace the yoke soon....didn’t wanna spend the extra $$ at that time. Got a leak out of the rear trans seal now. Wanna replace the yoke and seal this weekend. If I hurry up and order from summit now I should get the part tomorrow.
Replace the extension housing bushing and seal. If any yoke is moving around too much because of a worn bushing, it will make the seal less effective if not wipe it out over time.

Oh..yeah the cart is empty now. I pulled the trigger. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ATI-139015 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/AAF-ALL72152
Could be the same, not enough info to know for sure. Rockauto has some, https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...mission-automatic,extension+housing+seal,8624 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=1119473&cc=1379707&jsn=438&jsn=438
