The 212 gives about 500-700 rpm higher Hp peak with a very slight loss in torque with better mid range. Good cam

Not a 212 but I installed the TA 290-94H-350 cam in my 70 block. Bored .030 over. Flat top pistons. Nice lope. Decent idle. With everything I put on and inside it really changed the mentality of my GS.

This is the other cam I am considering. I am will have the TA Stage 1 intake, Stage 1 valves and a mild port and pocket on the heads. Factory exhaust manifolds and an auto with 3.42 gears. What would everyone recommend for these options?

    Thank you!

The crower level 3 is similar in this range. Matt’s low compression 68 350 does very well with it. Any of these cams will like more converter and distributer recurve.
Get an air fuel meter to confirm fuel curve is right.

Do a search for some of the info posted by Gary Farmer. It's a lot to take in but hes crunched the numbers every which way.

Or just get the Crower level 2 or 3 and have it all.

The crower level 2 is on sale right now, clearance price. So is a level 4 hydraulic and a 4 mechanical lifter.

Is the level 2 a step above the TA 212?

It’s more low end torque then upper rpm power of the 212. Rpm will be under 5000.

I just want a really nice streatable power band and more so on the low end for aggressive street driving.......

The level 4 on sale is mechanical lifter. It's on the narrow lobe center. Not very streetable.

Either the level 2, 3 or TA 212 cam is fine for almost all street combos

The problem with cam comparisons with real world engines is that it's always particular to the combo.
Behavior and streetability based on LSA or other specs only falls within the range of similar builds, with many specs stated having very different measurable values.
Many of the mild builds do fall within the bell shaped curve though.
Something to keep in mind when comparing simulations, anyways.

I would try a blue printed cam like they use in nhra stock. back when I raced my g/stock 73 stage1, I also drove it on the street. fun times.

Then consider a swap to a 200-4R trans and 3.73 gears. With the 2.74 1st gear it'll give far better torque multiplication and the final ratio in OD will be 2.50. You could lumber down the interstate fast enough to get a speeding ticket :D I've got 4.10s in mine and with the 28" tires I have it runs around 2,450rpm at 70mph, and 1st gear is a blast.

Yup on the 410's coupled with a 2004r. I x-way about 17 miles to get to the Woodward Ave shindig each year and feel for all those classic cars I pass up doing 75-80 while they're in the slow lane doing 55 @ 3,500 rpm!:D Lockup convertor drops rpm abt 3 hundy too!

I wave as I blast by....:)
