My friends 67 GTO's factory tach was really really bad and useless. Even the smallest stab at the throttle would have the needle jump to the max. His 66 GTO did the same thing and guessing they all wore out fast. Now these tachs take almost the whole 360 deg sweep.. My 66 GS had the factory maby 160 degree sweep tach on the console but I never saw the needle jump like that but after seeing my friends GTO I bought a Sun 2 tach thinking the factory wouldn't be accurate anyways. Hooking the sun tach up also with the factory I saw that they both worked in harmony.. So I ended up giving the Sun tach to my friend for his GTO ass I was happy with my factory one.. Why would anyone think the factory Buick 1/2 sweep tach was better? Just coincidence that it didn't wear out?
