straightening bumpers without ruining chrome ?

    can it be done ? this 70 i just got has very nice shiney original bumpers that are both a lil bent. i am wondering if they can be straightened without having to be replated ? :Do No: i imagine it depends on how badly its bent, and sorry i dont have any pics at this time. thanks, henry

    Depends where they are bent. If they have a "bow" in them, you can usuall rest them on 4x4 lumber on the ends and then stand on them or light jump on them with your body weight (200-240 lbs) to straighten them. If the bends are in the corners or tight radius areas, have to use blunt force which usually damages the chrome.

    thank you George, the front one is dented near the end, i think it will require blunt force in a press. i feel certain they can be saved, may have to replate though.

    BTW, congrats on the air breather the ohter day. best price i've seen on ebay in quite a while.

    Yes, seems they go for a low amount or a high amount, no in between. Well, I got the two I need so I won't be bidding on any more GS air cleaners.
