Yeah, a lady a work bought a new Civic in 1999 for $12,000, put over $2000 keeping it going (head gaskets).....worth what $6000 now? So that's $8000 (6K depreciation plus lets just say $2000 repairs, actually more) plus say 2000 gallons of fuel (35 mpg, 75K miles). $3000 fuel (ave 1.50/gal). Net cost $11,000 to drive 5 years. My piece of junk 85 Buick Century wagon. Cost $800 plus $1200 in repairs over 5 yrs. 3000 gallons of fuel (25 mpg, 75K) $4500 fuel. Total cost $6500 for five years. Saved $4,500 and IMO drove a nicer vehicle. Bruce
