    Hey all,

My car is out for body work and paint right now and the painter (easily) talked me into doing stripes on the car. The combo is going to be some kind of GM 2005 Silverado silver with black stripes. Not a big deal, but we're doing the stripes to save time and prep work because stripes were already on the car and we're not stripping the car down to metal. The "problem" is, I don't think the stripes aren't "Buick" style. They look like the Chevelle-type that are rounded out before they meet the edge of the trunk lid and hood lip, with a thin seperated line on the edges. I'll attach a pic of the back of my car before it went:

    Stripes

Anyway, my question is: what would you think of a '70 Skylark with that type of stripe painted on it?

I'm not totally sure about it myself. I'd like to be a little bit more "correct" and do it GS style but I have a regular hood and the GS didn't have any double stripe continuing on the trunk either.

What type of stripes have you seen on these cars before? which looked the best in your opinion? heck, do you even like stripes at all?

Like I said, I'm up in the air about it. I went there planning on something different but I'm open to anything that saves me money and looks good.

Do a search on the board for stripes. There was one car that had stripes that worked with the body lines of the car and looked good. In my opinion that is the only one I've seen that I liked.

I think you put your finger on the problem. The stripes as they were have nothing to with the sharp lines and points in the Buick styling. The Chevelles were much rounder and those stripes work there.

I'm not a fan of stripes, so my suggestion would be to skip them. If you'd like them I'd suggest 1 or 2 shades different than the base paint and make them flow with the Buick's body lines.

Of course the joy of our hobby is seeing people do what they want, no matter how others react.
