I am trying to take my drivers fender off a 65 buick special. I took all the front bolts off and it swings but there seems to be something holding it on near where it meets the rocker panel. It shouldn't be this hard. Is there a secret bolt somewhere down there or something of that sort.
there is a bolt there.if the head is broken off,it will be a stud & you have to push it down to clear.no big deal just flex it around till it goes...boing!
describe/picture Can anyone describe this bolt more or maybe draw me a corny picture or something. Maybe you could take a picture of the fender and point out about where it is/ how I get to it. My car is so rusty its hard to find some bolts. Thanks though
I have experience with 67's.... don't know if they are the same, but.... There's 2 bolts under the fender back by the door. They point straight up into the rocker panel. There's one in the upper corner right under the vent window area. You need to open the door to get to it. There's one on top of the firewall There's one in the face of the firewall up near the top. Hope that helps. o No: I'll see if I can find a picture too...
Here's a pic of my fenders before I put them back on. I put blue dots where the bolts are. Again.... Not sure what differences might be between 65-67
I found out the problem was the prior owner welded it to the rocker. It seems like a stupid way to do it. I just cut it off through the weld.
haha... I found the same thing on my ragtop when I started to tear it apart. They brazed the fenders to the rockers. ou: Glad you were able to get it apart. :TU:
