All you Western Pennsylvania guys must read this one. Also, anyone in a State Trooper outfit will want to digest this book. There are some neat things about the book and I can't say I was bored very often. My wife and kids picked up a hard copy at the local library and I read its 350 pages in about ten days. {no speed reader here}. I rarely read fiction so I can't be the best critic. There were some great quotes: "a Buick-fancier" was a term I had never thought of On the rear cover "There are Buicks everwhere...." And my signature now bares my favorite line from the book:
Started reading it a couple of days ago-so far so good.King always spins a good tale and this is no exception.Rod
Have read all of "Kings" books. Again all of them are excellent. This one was no exception. Actually king of Erie<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/8/8_1_1.gif' border=0></a>
I've meant to pick that book up for a while now. Thanks for reminding me of a Christmas list item. :beer Now, to email my sister.......
I cheated and read, more like listened, to it on cd in the car on a road trip to Ohio a couple of months ago. It was good listenin'. It kept me interested the entire way. I am a terrible long distance driver and it kept me awake the whole thirteen hours. Good book indeed!
great book im an avid king reader also and agree!! great book. and once again Buicks rule over mopars! the Buick in from a buick 8 had far more errie! powers than the whimpy Christine !!!
Re: great book I agree! I also paged back through the book and found some other neat quotes: This one might be used by a Mopar guy that just got beat again: "Nothing about that Buick surprises me anymore" Here is a philosphy without doubt: "Mechanics hate mysteries" This one would probably be most used by our better halves: "I was against doing anything with the Buick beyond keeping an eye on it and offering up the occasional prayer that it would either fall apart or disappear back where it came from" Perhaps a 2000 Regal owners family would feel this way when the factory 4yr warranty expired: "After four years of living with the Buick, none of them were afraid, exactly, but they were a nervy group that day, just the same" These two are the scary ones: "The Buick bred monsters" "It wouldn't do to be careless around the Buick any more than it would to be careless around an old rifle just because it's rusty"
