Tired of triping over it. Have a complete (every thing but the handle) roof that came off a Suncoupe. $500.00 and you have to pick it up here in Louisville, Kentucky.
Got some crappy pictures tonight (have to charge the camara battery). If you want any pictures as of now shoot me an E-mail to: sunbuick@aol.com
wanted for my custom ELECTRA, if you can cut about 6 inch around edge dont need full roof then can send UPS, will be easy. I have total modifed buick 468cu 455, in my electra with full interior mod, this is what I have looked for, the body shop would not do a full roof targa cut. due to body sag, but this will work. rply thx
Michael, do you have the roof section, or the soft parts? I have a suncoupe roof itself with no other stuff. Sounds like buickapollo455 needs both?
The problem in cutting it any smaller is that you will get into the bracing that supports the top and keeps it all in the correct shape.
Mike I would cut anyway as the hole is all he needs with the front, reqar and side tracks and header. The bracing can be formed and made to fit his roof
cutting> the top made by american sunroof, used a drilling pattern and cutting pattern to any roof. the chrome surround is set in the hole you cut in the car, then screws go thru chrome to roof to hold it in place. the slider is the assembled on a open car roof . I bought a NOVA top for x cars , and putting in my Apollo. In fact, you can take totally apart send in box with a use of a paper pattern after you take off, Note with masking tape on left and right of car chrome and front and aft parts, A paper pattern of the cut or original roof and holes rubbed in paper. you say it was missing the handle?
I will have to look at it closer to see if I can take it apart as I have never tried that before. Right now, I do not have a handle for it. The handles are different from The Suncoupes than other makes that had this top. It matters to some if it has the "correct" one.
After disassembling several of these down to the frame I can say that there are several weld in pieces you will need. I would say you have to cut as you first asked about 6 inches around the hole. Its possible I guess to completely cut all the welds on a roof and separate all the spot welds to the those parts. If I were to do this I would make a trip and pick up a roof assembly. Handles have been offered on this board in parts for sale section that will work. I have 3 complete roofs and for some reason I cannot bring myself to sell any parts from them
Have three top frames boxed up in the attic, but this is the only complete top I have in the garage and I am tired of triping on it.
For $250.00, I will add an orginal hard to find suncoupe top handle that is in very good shape. The handle will go with the sale of the Suncoupe top only.
