I have a wagon coming my way. The seller said that the auxillary support braces that help secure the upper control arms to the lower control arms did not fit on the wagon. Does the storage area in the back get in the way? Thanx.
I have a set that I never got around to test fitting on my Sportwagon, but it is very possible that the rear seat compartment may interfere with the support rods. Apparently there is a lower section of floor behind the rear seat that may get in the way. Also, the foot compartment on 3 seat wagons may also cause a problem. My wagons are only 2 seat, but the area behind the seat goes back a fair amount as well. Am guessing only a test fit will prove it for sure. Mark
Hey John Sportwagons use diff. wheel cylinders brake drumsand brake shoes in the rear than 2-4 door cars. They use 21/2 wide brake shoes like a front drum shoe. Also due to this the rear axle is diff.than a coupe. If you ever need rear wheel bearings they are also different.Kantor auto is the only place I could find them.Just thought I would pass info I found out the hard way. John, if you're talking about the pieces that connect the front mounting point of the upper control arms to the front mounting point of the lower control arms, I can tell you that they fit with no problems. I'm not sure which year you have, but I've installed the Hotchkiss rear control arms including the support pieces and didn't have any issues getting them in. There was plenty of room. Mine is just a 2-seater so I'm not familiar with the 3-seat setup. Paul
I gaurantee you that the stock braces dont fit. the floor pan is in the way. i tried installing them on the 68 i have in my driveway. no dice!! maybe the hotchkis ones are different.. Bob
In my sportwagon there is no differance in the rear ends just the backing plates :TU: Some of the cars have different axels but as for the whole diff I have run 10 different styles in my 69 over the 20 years i have owned her and they ALL fit from coupes to hts to 4 doors ... just my .02 worth ken
Ken 69 cars use a diff. bearing when I needed an axle bearing it was listed as diff from a 69 my car is a 68. However you may be right on the backing plates I'll have to look at mine again.
