Ok Buick gods- I've decided to lose the Dynaflow in our 55' Super & go to the 700R4 & Chevrolet rear end - open driveline arrangement. The stock Buick differential measures approx. 54-1/2" from backing plate to backing plate. Does anyone know what Chevrolet models / years are the choice for this swap? I looked at a diff from a 66' Impala & it measured about 58"- too wide. I know this has been done a million times & figured I ask instead of hunt & measure 200 rear ends before finding the right one.

As always- thanks in advance guys! Jon.

I have a rearend out of a 1987 Camaro that measured 58 inches and a 1981 Monte Carlo rearend that measures 52 inches. The 2WD S-10 rearend I have is 48 inches. I know none of these aren't what you're lookiing for, but maybe it'll be a good guide for you to search for rearends.
