    Hi Guys,
I recently had the crankshaft pulley shear off and leave 3 half bolts in my harmonic balancer. I happen to have a parts car and was able to swap the pulley and harmonic balancer from that car. Since this is an externally balanced engine the harmonic balancer has weights in different places.

The car is a 1973 Centurion convertible, it is purely a cruiser, never raced. It feels smooth, but will the mismatch cause problems over the long term?

Please include your name in your posts. Those weights in the balancer were used to bring the balancer into overall balance, not to balance a particular engine. That being said, if you have a vibration, you can bring your original balancer along with your new one to a good machine shop and have the new one match balanced to the original. If the engine feels smooth, I would not worry about it.

    Phew!
I was hoping that was the case. I searched through the past postings and found a lot of great information, but not the answer.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?
