And I really liked the fact that it wasn't set up by car group - mustang section , Mopar section etc . You really had to look all over to check out everything .
This was the 19th year for the Syracuse Nationals. We’ve only missed 2. The first year had about 3,000 cars and maybe 2 vendors IIRC. The last couple of years there has been 8,000+ cars, and who knows how many vendors, food joints, etc. It’s held at the New York State Fairgrounds here in Syracuse. It usually draws over 80,000 people, and is the second largest event on the grounds (second to only the State Fair itself). I think they cut off the year at 1979 or thereabouts, except for Sunday where newer stuff can enter. The show runs from Friday to Sunday. You’ll never see it all. You can’t take in all of the craftsmanship. Keith Diabo was hanging around the shop today. A white 71 GS drove by and he missed it. There is no way another GS “in the wild” will ever drive by my shop when Keith is there!
A good time was had by all !! And thanks to Bob and his wife Holly for their hospitality !! It was really cool riding in Bob's low 9 second white X to the fair grounds from Bob's house. And it was a real blast to smoking the tires at 60 MPH on the Interstate. I never saw that white GS one the way home either LOL !!
Well it’s good that the weather held out. It’s been raining since Sunday, and the rain gauge is closing in on 5”. The fairgrounds are likely a mess right now.
