I am not sure if this is normal or not. When I floor the pedal and the switch does its thing and adjusts as per the book, the problem that happens is the switch never makes contact. The switch only makes contact when it is extended all the way. Whats up? Does the switch need to be replaced or am I missing something?
    TIA Rick

It's supposed to be self-adjusting but thru the years things get bent, carpet and backing swells,,,....
I usually find that I have to slip some 3/8 hose over the switch rod to get it to work. I bought a GS once that someone had put a lug nut (closed end) on there to get it to work.

The actual adjustment is done by sliding the plunger thingy toward the driver then mashing the pedal with your foot......(not exactly verbatim per factory manual) :Brow:

BQUICK it looks like to me there is still about another 1" to go before anything happens. I will look at it some more tonite.

If the accelerator lever causes the switch slide to bottom out and puts a strain on the bracket at full throttle , the transmission detent solenoid may be energizedtoo soon causing an early downshift. to correct this problem carefuly bend the switch bracket down as required, and re-adjust the switch.

If the switch slide has too little travel at full throttle position, no 203 shift can occur. To correct this condition carefuly bend the switch bracket up as required, and re-adjust the switch.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help monkeyed with the thing this weekend and it is working. The only problem now is it won't kick down unless you have your foot planted. There is no part throttle kick down.
    Thanks Rick

My Problem is that I can not get the switch to work because of the Edelbrock carb that I am using, I had to make a bracket up to connect the "eye hook" to my linkage. How far out does the plunger have to be????
I have put a 12 volt source to the switch and I can hear the "CLICK" in the transmission. Would it be better to hook up a Momentary switch to the trans and do away with the "PLUNGER"? :Do No:  I was thinking of using a dimmer switch on the floor that way I could have better control of the switching.
