Have you heard about T/A performance and their new project? They are looking to cast an aluminum BBB!

    I personally have mixed feelings.

    1) It's gonna be huge $$ but that's a given. Even SBC aluminum blocks are expensive.

    2) Can't we have a set of SBB Aluminum heads someday?? :(

    Just my $.02

  2. This is "relatively" old news. TA announced this a few months ago. Haven't heard any news lately about the sbb alum heads though...

Yeah, BUT in their ad in the BPG newsletter it said that it was Breaking News!! :)

I hadn't heard it before, and hadn't seen it mentioned on this board.

Hot Rod has a 2 page article on the T/A V6 block. If that block is capable of sustaining 2 to 3 thousand HP, what will the BBB do?

Just what we all need - 4,000 HP Buicks!!!!

P.A.E. has a new cast block that should be out soon(some time this summer I think). I personally would take that over the alluminum block.

I don't think we'll see any 4000 hp 455's with the TA block any time soon (not that I don't want to). The V-6 block is a deep skirt design with cross bolted mains, which is stronger than the skirtless 455 design.
I seem to remember somone was throwing around numbers like 1800 hp with the new PAE block.

    Thanks for the link!

Somehow my searches never return anything. Could it be that my browser is too old?

Don't want to work the 200MHZ Packard Bell too hard, you know ;)

I'll be converting over to T/A's aluminum block as soon as it's available. HP aside, I want the added strength improvements as well as getting them in a lighter package. Less weight IS HP after all. After I'm done, anyone who wants to buy a slightly  used block, block girdle, and lifter bore girdle, give me a call.
