will be hitting Milan for the final tune-up before PSMCDR on Wednesday 8-21. anyone else heading out there?? Test & Tune is from 4-9 pm. $25 for car/driver. hoping for some better 60' times than last time.
I feel your pain, I am still taking crap off the car myself........ engine apart [check] trans out [check] front suspension out [check] interior partially apart [check] parts back ordered [check] right on schedule
What could possibly be back ordered? It's a SBC. Unless, ummmmm you ordered the special lightweight race parts. Thanks, Mike. I will let her know.
Blue car very close Green car Engine out Trans out Rear end out Should have made Summit order last night
Have to work tonight, wish I could. Wow guys I'm feelin pretty good, I just have to change my bacon and eggs in the blue car. ... I'm ahead of the curve!!! :TU: Maybe a few little tweeks but no last minute thrashs for me this year!
Got to put on the loop and swap out the wheels/ tires for the Polyglas. Otherwise ready to go, but who knows what it'll do. Half the fun is getting there...
A string of 13.23-13.29's with 60' times in the 1.86-1.88 range. The air was atrocious and track prep was non-existent because it was a T&T. Adjusted altitude was 2740 above sea level-ugh!. Last year that weather would have equated out to 13.40'13.50's. It's liking the new exhaust!!
:eek2::eek2::eek2::TU::TU::TU::TU: Wow, that's awesome Little one's car got sold when I needed money to finish station, Rhondas will live again Monday or Tuesday. But I have to finish this guys 68 mustang first. By the way Rusty--- Happy fake birthday today. whens the real one???
Frank, how much mph did you pick up at the stripe? And what changes did you make to the exhaust system?
Brian- ah, the exhaust saga. I had a 2 1/4" compression bent system by Accurate Ltd. our of Oregon with their first generation Accurate built mufflers. 14.20's @ 98-99mph. I swapped out those mufflers for a pair of Dyno Max Super Turbos and I picked up almost a full SECOND and 4 MPH! Avg. of 13.40 @ 101. This year I installed a TTi 2 1/2" mandrell bent X-pipe system with a pair of Dyno Max Ultra Flo mufflers. That was worth another 2 tenths and almost 2 mph. 13.22 @ 103.1 a couple of weeks ago with 1.97 60's times. Can't wait to try this combo in some good air and a prepped track.
That's money well spent! I will be installing a 2.5" system on my car. I have some Summit turbo mufflers. (They were free, and brand new.) Hoping those work out for me. If not, guess I know what I need to buy - ultra flows!
Wow Frank, that's a huge drop in ET. I have the same Accurate exhaust on my 340 Duster which runs low 14's @ 98. I've considered something mandrel bent, sounds like a great investment.
The key was getting rid of those Accurate mufflers. Tom Cannon has a later version of these and he reports that they flow just fine now. I bought this system in 2000. Check out the engineering of the exhaust flow: Everything had to pass thru those 3/8" holes TWICE. Spending $84 on a pair of Dyno Max that netted a second lower ET was the best money I have ever spent on the Dodge Money Pit! I had a buddy who dynoed his 440 Challenger with Flowmaster 44's. Cut them off and replaced them with Dyno Max Ultra Flos and netted 25 HP on the dyno with no other changes! I wonder what mine picked up with that simple muffler change! ---------- Post added at 12:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 PM ---------- Dave- the TTi system driver side head pipe comes straight back against the floor pan instead of the usual snaking around the torsion bar/steering box/starter motor. I had to relocate my starter wires, trans lines, cut/section/weld the kickdown pivot and linkage arm and move my driveshaft loop because the "X" landed right in the spot where I had the loop bolted. The main pipes had to be cut 4" before the axle, 2" off the tailpipes, and four inches off the tips along with the back tip hangers needed to be relocated. Other than that, it was a straight bolt-in deal~ ou:
