So far I have ground on my secondary weights to get my shift point to 4500, used to be 3200. I went to a tranny shop to see if they had some weights laying around in case I went to far, he went back to the 400 junk drawer and comes back with weights from various kits. My question is does anybody have any instructions left over from their kits to see about using these weights? I have a few different shapes and thicknesses.
    TIA Rick

Well after several trial and error sessions, and finding after market weights, the transmission is now shifting at 5000 rpm in drive. It started at 3500 ground the original weights down and got 4300 ground some more and got it around 4500 and thats where it stayed. I went to a transmission shop to get an extra set of weights in case of going to far. He had left over weights from after market kits, I found out that you can to light, when that needle swings past 6000  you had better be ready to lift. :Smarty: Now with the after market weights I am a happy camper. :beer

Pete I wished it was my hand, it was the bottom side of my forearm. I told my daughter that I usually burn myself when I work on cars from this angle low and behold I was right. Afterwards she said I should have put shirt sleeve down. :Dou:
Don't be afraid of a shift kit. Get the car up on some check stands and get after it. Follow the directions and stay CLEAN dirt will be your enemy not just dirt either dust, hair, or the lint off of your rags. Just be prepared for yourself to get a little oily, unless you can get it high enough. The first one that I did worked perfect I was pretty proud of myself.
    Thanks Rick
