Ok I have been looking at TA's site and been reading here and I have become somewhat puzzled.

I see that TA offers a Stage 2 Street Eliminator and a Stage 2 Track Eliminator cylinder head. What are the differences in the heads?

And then same question for the Stage 1 heads.

    Thank You,
    Bart

Taller intake ports on the TE heads..

Are they so much taller that they take a dedicated intake manifold?

Also I am aware that the stage 2's use an extra head bolt and headers. Is there any other reason that someone might choose the stage 1's over the stage 2's?

    Thank you,
    Bart

Stage1 heads are a direct bolt-on, no mods needed to get them to work.

And they'll be perfect for most street combos with minimal work.

And yes, the ports are tall enough on the TE's that you need a tall port manifold.

Don't forget that with the Stage2 heads, they have "D" shaped exhaust ports and require Stage2 headers- your manifolds won't fit.

I just installed some Stage1 SE heads. Visually, they are about 99% identical to the iron heads. Inside, both intake and exhaust have been reworked, and the hot air cross-over passage in the stock head is replaced by a coolant crossover passage that has a removable plug (actually a socket head set screw, so you can just unscrew it) TA put some thought into the heads

Personally, I chose the Stage1 heads over the Stage 2's because I didn't want to buy new headers and also I was in far enough over my head simply choosing the correct cam and converter for the Stage1 heads. Some folks buy the Stage1 SE heads because they look almost identical to the stock heads- important at shows, and in the Factory Appearing Stock Tire class of racing

As far as the differences between the Stage 1 and Stage 2 TE and SE heads, if you call up TA, they will be more than happy to explain and help you make the right choice
