I have actually visited there shop in Scottsdale......a must on any trip to the Phoenix area. They were really nice and gave me the nickel tour (not really that big) I got to watch the machine that was milling the stage 1 alum heads. I asked them about building engines....they said strap it to a pallet and send it to them. They will do the rebuilding. The were working on a couple of engines including some really slick set ups for V-6's.

Call them, they are very friendly....

Mike built the shortblock for my Stg 2 motor in my racecar. He told me at the time that the manufacturing part is his main business. Building motors is kind of a "side" deal. He does all the work himself. Because of that it takes a little longer than most machine shops. I'll tell you one thing, I've never had a machine shop pay as much attention to DETAIL as Mike does. He called me several times during the build to discuss various aspects of the motor. I was very pleased with the finished product. Definitely a first class operation.

    Have fun. :3gears:

    TA and Motor Work

No personal experience here, but I think some people have waited a long time to get motors done by TA. Make sure you work out your schedule needs on the front end so you won't be disappointed later. Also, ask around some more and get customer feedback.

I am lucky that I live in Mpls. and I am 20 minutes away from Trishield Performance.
I would highly recommend Jim Wiese at Trishield. He is first class and knows what works for Buicks, he is a true Buick specialist.
    His phone number is 763-422-8685.
    Web site is www.trishieldperf.com.
    Good luck!

Not to mention...Jim is a heck of a nice guy!

Depending on what you have in mind...You could also talk with the boys at AM&P in Philpot KY.

All the above mentioned have been for the most part talked good about and complimented on work in previous threads/posts. You also might consider Jim Burek, I don't know if he builds personalized motors but he might. Maybe Poston could be another option.

I will say this about TA. They told me most of my combo would not work, told me blocking the oil bypass would not work, (a must for any race engine)and said my quench was too tight. IF your building a race motor, check with someone else. Plus they take forever. Took 7 months to get my heads, I was told no more than 8 weeks) In fact the mill job on my STG 2 heads was so poor, I had to get .010 taken off just so they were flat. Also gave me false numbers for my CR ratio. said I would be 11:1. I took 4 cc out of the head chamber, and I have 12.5:1. I am really not here to bash them, just giving my experience.

I also would highly recommend AM&P in Kentucky. Mike Phillips put together a nice little grocery getter for me :Brow: 470 cubes 565 hp :beer Runs like a FREIGTRAIN, or as you southern boys would say, it hauls all the mail!!!!! As with all top quality engine builds it does take time to do the job right(THE FIRST TIME) You just need to let them know what time frame you are looking for. Good Luck :3gears:
