So is there a date we can expect these to be released or is it just an on going project and no one is really sure when it will be completed?
Everyone, I believe, has lost hope in these projects at the moment. Good thing we have an X-Factor and TT kit coming, and they both have DATES!
I think that date is pretty much over with... I bet Sean and Mark both have started drawing up other ideas and plans! T/A better get on the ball, or I see someother people beginning to dominate the 350 market very quickly.
dont look to bulldog for 350 heads they are still working on 455 blocks we will be running electric cars by then
My 77 (155 hp rated) 350 made 398 hp at 5600 rpm with home done porting on stock heads, and a TA 212 cam, 8.3:1 comp. after re-build with forged trw pistons with stock spec dish. $2000 build
While I applaud the effort on the twin turbo kit and even donated to the single plan intake. A single plan intake and aluminum heads are what needs to be looked at. Most people want bolt on items that retain stock appearance. The last time I looked the twin turbos were not stock appearing. Don't mean to PI$$ on the twin turbo movement, but even if you are successful you will only satisfy a small portion of the SBB crowd.
Point taken but how much power do you want to make? I'm sure my low comp engine with the high compression diamond pistons would have made 450 hp with the same MILD cam so I'm not sure what more you want from an essentially stock engine. Alum heads will be at least $2500 and for that I can build another 350 to 400 hp. Would this help satisfy the niche you are seeing? If we could find a way to start making batches of ported 350 heads and find an alternative to the $700 roller rockers then we could bring down the cost of the iron head porting and get more people in the SBB performance game. I do apreciate the r&d donation and take no offence to your opinion, its all good.
yea i know, but the big difference is availability, i would love aluminum heads but thats on the very bottom of the list for TA, seems like the 455 aluminum block is on the top, and i'm sure you wont see that til then end of this year to 09..
Sean, I really appreciate the effort that you are doing and wish more people would take notice. In my honest opinion I think about 400 - 450 hp is were most of the buyers are. This makes the car quite quick, but will still be streetable. The ability to enjoy the car is the most important thing. Making sure that Corvette can't blow by and get in front on the highway kinda of power. The best part about the aluminum heads is it gives engine builders or the home builder the ability to repeat something. You can start to consistantly get 400hp out of a combination. It takes less time to reproduce and the home shop mechanic can do it to. Today the same setup will have a wide range of performance because of the different head and distributor work. People want to know about what HP they will get with a certain combination. that is not possible today. There are a number of dirt tracks around that do not allow turbos, super chargers or nitrous. They folks need to race on NA engines. If we can show repeatablity and plenty of HP and torque out of the Buick engine you will get more people running them on these tracks. The Chevy 350 is no power house. It takes alot of bolt ons to get 500hp. My $.02. I am looking for 400hp and 400 lbs and 16 mpg.
Matt, Stay tuned, mark has some exciting stuff that will surface next week! We do realize that there is a huge desire for a repeatable performance and lots of people are happy with 400 hp but to get the notice of the school yard you have to find the biggest bully and whip him good. my point is that trickle down performance will result in our MAX effort builds because we need to run reliably and streetably in the 10s or quicker to get any respect! My 400 hp build is not going to get us alum head type attention, we need to turn some heads and win some races!
I will be racing a Buick car this summer on dirt tracks up here, funny you should mention that LOL! Enter the BUDGET high comp NA engine with the flat top pistons.
Here they have two levels. They have one where after the race anyone can buy your engine from you. In that class they try and use engines that are cheap and easy to get HP out of. In that class 400hp done cheaply would be a monster.
Not sure how many times I'll get out but I will try to make a good showing: http://www.castrolraceway.com/Facility.html
