    Ok Guys
    Here is the deal !!
Been working on my 1971 BUICK Skylark
getting ready to do a little motor work. Asked
all you folks here about doing so and asked for advise (by
the way thanks everybody) Called TA to order parts
asked to get a 212 cam the man i spoke to said i
should not use that do to the 8.5 :1. Dont know what to do at this point need your help
    Thanks Jim

  2. Do you know for sure what your compression is? 8.5 would have been from the factory I believe. Is it still stock?

Jim I think TA usually recommends that you have at least9 to 1 for that cam.I ran it with a little over 8.5 to 1 and didn't have any problems with driveability.Although the higher compression will only help it.:TU:

    sbbuick My driving scares people!

If you want to go with a cam that "big" then you could make up for the low compression a bit by using bleed down lifters.

T/A is saying that because bigger cams tend to have more overlap which tends to bleed off static compression at lower RPMs.

  6. The TA website description for the TA212 doesn't mention a recommended CR for use of the cam, while several others requiring 10.5 or better DO mention the needed CR. I would say it is more of a suggested requirement, although you would certainly be happier with the performance gain from the cam if you were running more compression.

    77 350

does anybody know the compression ratio for a 77 350? I was planning on using the same cam TA212 as you,but i am get some work done to my heads,(reworked, ported, and unshroud the exhaust) is that raising my compression or just giving me better flow thanks guys

    Thamks Guys
not for sure if i will get that cam at this point
i guess i need to research it a little more. What
    about a poston GS350-110 or a GS350-114
    anybody using either of these?
    Thanks Jim

    Just giving better flow........

with the numbers that the 212 has I didn't think 9:1 would be a problem with the cams overlap/duration............ Wish I had a 8.5:1 350 here to test it out on. Granted you might have a slight loss of static compression at low RPM, but who has one of these cams and spends much time at low RPM's anyways?

If you are going to be running lower compression it would be a little better to run the TA C110. The tighter lobe separation will build more cylinder pressure and the exhaust side is a little shorter, less over lap, this will help with the low rpm power.
