Mart, I will try to have my daughter take a digital picture tomorrow. The manifold is still on the 350 engine. Last week I dynoed my new rebuilt 350 engine. The SP3 open plenum really cut down on my torque-horsepower was 317 at 5800 rpm, but torque was way down at 331 ft lbs. I have a 600 cfm Holley carb on it and a comp cams "Thumper" cam, duration 227-241 @.050, lift .494 int-.480 exh, and 107 lobe separation. Iron exhaust manifolds were on for the dyno run. I listened to a so-called expert on the cam and intake and ended up with a wrong combination. By the way, this is the first time I built a high perormance Buick engine, so in reality, this is a new learning experience and I look forward to the challenge. I want something with a lot more torque for the street where the 87 Regal will live-hence, the need for a SP1 and a different cam, plus headers. The engine ran fine up to 5800 with stock crankshaft and rods and cast pistons with 60 lbs oil pressure at 5800 rpm. I evidently did a good job blueprinting the oil pump. Other than poor performanmce the engine ran fine. My previous engine building has been building small block Chevys for the local dirt tracks-never dominated, but through the years my engines have won 50 feature wins and lots of second and third places. Hope this answers all of your questions?

Wondering if intake was from 1st or 2nd run and has the cnc porting program on ports.
Has it been ported at all? With it still on eng, pics won't show that.

Mart, it is stock. No porting in manifold or cyl heads. I put bigger valves in the heads and streamlined the valve guides which is all that I did.

Mart, also there was 5 or 6 dyno runs for breaking in the cam and finding the ultimate timing. Other than that, the manifold is new.

Just my take on things. I believe the "Thumper" is the MAIN reason for your problem, NOT THE MANIFOLD. Those thumper's are the wrong cam for your 350 & many others. All they are good for is to make the noises you & others want to hear while cruising through the parking lot of a cruise other than that they are JUNK!!!!

telriv, I agree wholeheartedly with you.. I should have never, ever bought the thumper cam, but it was highly recommended to me by aperson: but not TA, though! And I was thinking about horsepower only, not torque. I sold the SP3 and now am looking for a SP1 manifold. One thing, I learned since, is that a Buick 350 engine needs larger duration on the exhaust side and the thumper made that worse than normal because the duration on it is backward and the 107 lobe separation didn't help any. For me, though, this is fun learning about a differnt engine that presents new challenges. Any suggestions on what cam I should use with the SP1 and headers in a 3400 lb 1987 Regal with a 3:42 rear gear. The cam, even though it was way down on torque, still created a flat torque curve. gscalifornia Small blocks rule!!

I've got a 3600lb '69 GS California and run the TA-290-94H cam and really like it. The rest of the combo is .030 over TRW forged pistons, ported iron heads, stock valve train, stock intake, reworked quadrajet, points ignition, and TA headers with 2 1/2" muffler shop exhaust with an X-pipe. It's bolted to a T350 with a shift kit and 3.23 rear gear. It'll tear the tires off all day long and has run a best of 13.56 @ 99 on street tires.

I posted this link dozens of times.

    http://www.empirenet.com/pkelley2/DynamicCR.html

It's a must read for anyone choosing a cam. It explains why the cam description includes a static compression requirement.

BTW, the SP1 is a 400-430-455 intake. Maybe you meant TA 350 Stage1 intake?

Odd. Ive been working from home. My Malwarebytes caught the above from home.

I'm also remotely connected to work so I tried it through my work internet and Malwarebytes didn't catch it on that end.

Maybe just a false positive on my home internet, because I have used Larry's link before when he posted it in my build thread.

Sorry for the hijack. Just wanted everyone to be safe in this virus world we live in lol!
