Th350 and th 400 speedo gear housing.

    I would like help with the 350 and 400 transmission. I have a 1972 buick skylark that came with 350-2 engine and I'm wondering if it's a way to know what tranny came in this car. Also I would like to know if the speedo gear housing in the 350 will interchange or fit into a 400 tranny. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

    If it was originally a small block 350 car, it came with a TH350 trans. Sorry, the TH350 and TH400 speedo gear housings do not interchange.

    Sorry to hijack this thread but I had the same question as I intend to do a swap. Is there a resolution to the gear housing not being interchangeable? Like just buying another? Modify the existing? If so, what do they run?

    the cable will connect no problem, if you are trying to keep the same drive gear ratio you will have to do some work. but getting the gearing right is pretty easy put in the trans and see you might just be close on it
