I was reading the Ron Sessions book on the th350 and it states a cracked intermediate servo piston can cause second gear starts. but it is a little vague. would there be any other symptoms ? i was going to put a th400 in but if its just a $20 part i will fix the th350. any info would be appreciated thanks, dave

That may be so, but it is much more likely the problem is a sticking governor. remove it and check it/clean it

thanks, already went through the governor. i can't get 1st even in manual low. when i hit the gas it feels like a bump like it starts in first then quickly goes into second. i'm going to take it apart this weekend and see whats going on.thanks, dave
