I have purchased the TH350 filter and kit from Oreilly. I am wanting to change the filter on my 71 Skylark 350/350 setup. I don't know much about the filters on a tranny. Is the transmission filter in the fluid pan? If not, where should it be located. Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes...drop the pan and you'll see the filter attached to the tranny inside. Be sure you give yourself room to work and a very large catch-pan for the tranny fluid. With no drain plug, this is a messy job. Loosen/remove all the bolts...fluid will probably start to drain. Then carefully pull the pan off. If you have to pry it off, do so gently so you don't damage the pan or the mating surface on the transmission. Be prepared for a flood of nasty transmission fluid. Then carefully peel/scrape away the old gasket and clean the pan while your tranny finishes dripping. Pay attention to the how the old filter is positioned before you remove it, and installing the new one will take about 5 seconds! Super easy...super messy!!!!

Thanks. Messy doesn't bother me, except cleaning the garage. :puzzled: I just wanted to make sure the filter was there before I tore into it. I've been there a few times. I appreciate the help.

    darrenkp Love that Torque!

You can avoid some of the mess by leaving in one bolt (loosen it enough to let the pan drope some) and letting the pan tilt enough to drain most of the fluid.:TU:
