Having trouble with the kickdown. The first one I had would pull out but wouldn`t return so I ordered another from a board member.Same problem it pulls out fine but needs a little help to return.Another problem is the cable seems too long I have it adjusted all the way back and it still falls out of the gas pedal slot.Any ideas on what I`m doing wrong

If the cable and linkage isn't binding somehow, another cause of the cable not returning is the detent valve hanging up inside the valve body. Just a thought.

Without depressing the gas pedal you should see some distance from the arm on the pedal to the adjuster clip on the cable. Remember it wasn't activated until the pedal was floored.
I changed mine a few years ago & remember seeing a small bushing for the cable where it passed thru or hooked onto the pedal arm. Slot in the bushing to install it, rotated away from the opening.
Chassis Manual will show you a very good pic & set-up on adjustments.

I have the guide and retainer but the retainer is all the way down to the cable not on the bigger section where it is supposed to go.It still has slack in it.With any slack at all it will slide out of the slot where it attaches to the pedal.
