I adjusted the kickdown cable as per GM's instructions and the trans does not kick down. I tried pulling the housing more (against the spring) but still does nothing o No: . I still have some adjustment left to pull it tighter but I am thinking that it shouldn't have to be that tight. Am I wrong, any ideas what gives? I had this transmission in my Cutlass and used a universal cable that the transmission shop installed. It broke when I took the transmission out of that car so I got an aftermarket oem type from NAPA. Before I put the trans into the Electra I had it on my engine stand and flipped it over to change the filter. I can't see doing that caused any problems and the trans seems to shift well otherwise.
