Th350 to full of fluid?

    Alright well I put my th350 tranny in today and eveything went well the only thing was that when i was filling it up with fluid i had it in drive by accident and it was on the hoist so it wasnt moving anywhere so it has to much fluid in it and it seems to be leaking at the downshift detent cable...how bad it is for teh tranny to have to much fluid and would that be the most likly place the tranny fluid would leak out of..? could somen help me out! thanks!

    You didn't hurt the trans. Just drain out the extra fluid. If you drive an overfilled trans, the fluid will usually overheat, aerate, and will come out of the dipstick tube or the vent up top. The cable is sealed with an O-ring, check to see if it is there and undamaged.

    Make sure you get the fluid level back down to where is should be before you drive it. I'd use a large plastic syringe and piece of hose to suck the fluid out.

    With the car level to slightly tail end high. Place something to catch about two quarts of fluid under the speedometer assembly. Remove the 1/2 inch bolt and the retaiing clip. then remove the assembly. Wile the fluid is draining, wipe the assembly dry. when the draining fluid is about the diameter of a straw or less, reinsert the assembly, the clip and the bolt. Check the fluid level and service with the fluid you removed if necessary.
