I just grabbed a TH400 Short tail that has been gone through by Fairbanks and will be installing it in my '68 Skylark. The car has a 2 speed in it now and aside from the Dip Stick is there anything else I need to be concerned about (Yoke, Driveshaft length etc.? :Do No: ). I am working on getting a 2500 Stall Converter from a friend and I'm installing a B&M Ratchet shifter I've had in a box for 3 yrs. now  . Next is to get the 455 from my neighbor to replace my tired 350-4. I almost had it 2 months ago but he backed out at the last minute :spank: .

    Thanks for any info.

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

    TH400 requires a larger yoke.
You may need to shorten your driveshaft 1-2"
You will also need the TH400 trans mount, flexplate cover, downshift switch, gas pedal retainer if your car does not have those items already.

Thanks for the info. Looks like I have some work ahead. Hope I don't have to mess with the Drive Shaft :( I may already have the Yoke.

  4. 68 skylark will not require a new kick downshift switch. it already has an electric kickdown switch for the 2 speed thats in it. you'll need to have the driveshaft shortened. the yoke is different as stated above. also you will possibly need to relocate the tranny crossmember back a bit, the th400 mounting holes for crossmember should be there already. factory column shifter will work fine. i performed this swap on a 68 GS350 a few years back
