Do you have a transmission cooler installed? If so, try bypassing it and driving the car. If you have the regular radiator cooler, try bypassing that. We had a member go through 3 transmissions when all he had was a plugged cooler.
"Good and bad news", some what good news. Did some trouble shooting today and First off don't think it's the tranny. shifting into all gears, and the same re-action,"barely none to slow engagement". In drive, at high rpm, car is moveing, but very slow. roar the engine in drive, and engine surges and car barely creeps off. car will slowly pick up speed, after allot more accelaration. Can this be the torque convertor going out ?
Do make sure the cooler is clear. I doubt its the converter. A bad stator clutch will reduce converter torque advantage to a simple 1:1, but not stop it. A bad bearing might stop it though. There is a pressure port on a TH400. Might be time to put a gauge on it and see what is happening. And just maybe, there is no avoiding that rebuild. Bruce Roe
ok here i go again, final and last assesment. Today, with rear in the air, car in drive, tires barely rolling, very little to no accelleration by tires. after some more under car looking around, notice a "clucking noise from rear end, when brakes applied". Car off, but in drive, rotate rear tires, drive shaft rotates, pauses in spots, and then rotates again, grab and stop drive shaft, tires continue to rotate.stop tires, rotate drive shaft, no movement by tires, rotate tires drive shaft moves till stop by hand, tires continue rolling. "Rear end" ?
