I did ask this question here once before, but I misplaced the answers I wrote down. I have about six TH400s laying around, from '65 thru '72- all long-tails. I want to pick the best unit as the basis for my eventual rebuild, and start by cutting the case for my Ultrabell, which was delivered yesterday. Somewhere I read that the '65-70 TH400 has a few better parts (34-element sprag vs. post '70 16-element?) or would that be easily/commonly replaced during a good performance rebuild? Are there specific differences/advantages to using a TH400 from one year or year-range over another? Car will be around 4100 lbs with approx 575 HP and 3.73 posi rear. Thanks!
I have a friend who owns trans shop and he replaces with the heavier duty sprag all the time so it does not matter. I know 70-72 all pretty strong.
