Running with the big boys isn't easy when you have nearly half the cubes, no power adders and a manual trans at that. Jay Schonbereger of Philadelphia Racing Engines has been doing it, and doing it well since the opening of our season. The Regal is powered by a 358ci SBC and is backed by a Liberty 5spd, to a 9inch 6.20 geared rear. This car is still not a lightweight weighing in at 3,000lbs, ( that's 300 over what he is allowed ). But going up against some of the fastest cars in the Northeast he's been proving himself each month in the Atco Raceway Quick 8 Series. Cars with dual stages of nitrous and 106mm turbos are the norm, with over 600 cubes for most of the cars. Jay has shifted his way into one final so far and has gone rounds with the best there is. Coming from an NHRA Comp Eliminator background, his eye for the tree and tuning capabilities are there for him. I personally find the car to be outstanding and worth this message boards approval. Jay is also one of the nicest guys you would want to meet and his many fans are now appreciating the Black beasts style and competitiveness.

You can find more of the Regal in the Racing Coverage section, by Clicking Here !! Enjoy !!

Wow, that's nice. Does the "less cubes" let him run overweight?

Jay would love to get rid of the extra 300lbs in the car somewhere. The wieghts are 2,700lbs small block (NA), 2,900lbs with any power adder, and 3,100 for any BBC combo with a power adder. The whole problem is to get rid of the weight and still keep it resonably like a real car, no glass clip and doors, lexan and stuff. The car is a pleasure to watch anytime.

I was on gdr over the weekend looking at the pictures.....Then I read "5-speed".
That's a wicked car that looks to be nicely detailed throughout.

We really like the car and yeah it's very clean Gary. It's funny just how much the fans appreciate his work and being able to be more than just lucky but going rounds.

    It's an 84 T Type, 358, Liberty 5spd, all motor.
