I picked it up on Thurs. night and spent all day Fri. getting it ready and mounted back on the finished chasis (had it painted on a parts car chasis). Now comes the best part--putting it all back together and seeing the finished product! By the way, I have it driveable enough to move around and it sounds wicked with the open headers! Keep in mind that the car still gets a black vinyl top on it, so it will look a little different when done.
Hey, Brian - Car looks GREAT! What a great feeling to have it start to come together. You're killing me here, though.....I love my '70 GS convertible, but my very first car was a '65 Gran Sport....cherry red, black vinyl hardtop, with a Hurst 4-speed.... I sold mine when I was 17....couldn't afford to replace the clutch like I was doing every few months! :eek2: :3gears: I hope to find another one just like it some day......your's sure brings back memories! :Brow:
Brian, Thanks for posting those, it looks great! I'll send you a note so you can just hit reply - hopefully that will fix the e-mail issues. Mine goes in for paint in about three weeks. Mark
Way to go Brian!! Looks Great! :TU: I know you did ALOT of work on that car, glad to see it's coming together! Nice size garage too, is that your new place? I'll be doing the body drop on my '66 4 speed car soon .....It will be a great feeling seeing more finished parts on the car, and not on my garage floor, basement floor, on shelves, or hanging from the ceiling!
The garage where I took the pictures doing the body swap is my old neighbors garage back in Rocky Mount where I just moved from. The car was there in Rocky Mount being painted and he let me use his garage to put the body back on the finished chasis so I could bring it all here in one trip. The place with the other two cars in it is my new place. It is technically a 2-car garage, but it is 28 ft. wide, so I managed to squeeze three cars in there. I need to shift the other two closer to the wall so I have some room to start working on the GS. When I first put them all in there, I had a row of boxes around the wall, so now that I am mostly un-packed I can make some room to work. I know the feeling about parts sitting around--once my GS is back together, it will get rid of half the boxes of parts I have sitting in the bonus room over my garage! My first priorities on the car are to paint the gas tank and get it in the car, bleed the brakes and get them functioning, and put an exhaust system on it (neighbors won't put up with the open headers for long).
Hi Brian I'm getting ready to ship mine off to the Body shop. I had to check out your pictures again, awesome! Any progress to report??? :beer
......... wow looks awesome.mine will be back on the body next week also....check out the thread ..... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=48765&page=1&pp=25
Here is a fairly up to date picture--I since have installed the front and back glass. All of the dash and wiring is in it as well as the headliner and all the pw motors and stuff. Right now I am working on getting the fenders ready to install--I just painted the semi-gloss inside of the fenders on Mon. night, so they are ready for me to attach the inner fender wells.
