that is pretty cool. my brother in law has one of the 72 ranchero gts with the429cj in it. last year of production i believe. its an automatic though. has a ton of torq but the horsepower rating was way down on it by 72 all though all the smog stuff is gone off it. someone back in the day decided to make a drag truck. cut out the inside of the bed and used culverts to make wheel tubs. thing is a cobbled up nightmare. quite a shame actually.

friend's father-in-law bought one of those brand new. It ended up going to my friends youngest son. They even bought a 71 parts car (truck?) from TN. But the 70 was rusted REAL bad in the back end, so it got parted and sold. The 71 got sold too I believe. The 429SCJ (which was original to the now gone 70) lives on in a 66 Fairlane. The Fairlane is a 4sp while the Ranchero I believe was an auto. I think the 9" is in the Fairlane too. They definitely are different.

A local guy here has a white 4 spd like this. Runs high 14's and is basically a show car/truck. The white truck has magnums on it and I personally like the doggie look. This one did make something move:)

Yeah, yeah, yeah,.....and if I had a Mustang parts would be easier to get.
I just really like the mid-size Torino and Ranchero line up.
