None of this has anything to do with a Buick, gas is going up and that is the end of it, get the Buick out and drive while you can.

Gas going up is not a bug, it's a feature.

I always hear our roads are terible our infrastructure is crumbling our bridges are falling down. But everyware I drive I see highway repair or new construction. I have yet to drive off a bridge or get a flat from a pot hole. I cant stand when the govt like in CA complains we need new taxes for our roads, people vote for it and then the Govner brags on how well hes running the state because of billions in revenu surplus. The govment is always in favor of more govnt, and that approach is not going to enhance any of our lives by banning the use of fuel from oil. Makes me wonder why I work to pay taxes to support the people who cant manage the country.

    Anson,
Plants already do that, it's called Photosynthesis.

Every green plant already does that. Also, most of earth's O2, at least half and maybe 80%, comes from the plankton in the ocean.

Earth used to have upwards of 35% O2 in the atmosphere. They speculate it is the reason dinosaurs could grow so large. It is likely why wildfires burned hotter and did more devastation during the same period. It would be like a blow torch once lightning lit a fire.

Do plants photosyntesize carbon monoxide too or is it just carbon dioxide?

Not sure about that, but plants do contribute to CO, but it's during decomposition and not while they're alive, if I remember right. The bigger contributor is incomplete combustion.

I know plants already absorb Carbon D. Those arent mutant plants.

You'd need to haul a few semi trailers full to offset what it produces at idle.

Mercedes-Benz will unveil its new electric SUV, the EQS, later this month.

And to whet the public’s appetite, the German automaker released a teaser image of the vehicle.

Mercedes-EQ will present its first all-electric luxury SUV on April 19, promising to livestream its world premiere on various platforms, including YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter.

The EQS is being manufactured in Tuscaloosa County at Mercedes’ Vance plant, while its electric batteries are being made in nearby Bibb County. Last month, Mercedes opened the battery plant and gave media members a sneak peek at the EQS, as well as announcing an ambitious goal to go all-electric by 2030, as market conditions allow.

Mercedes-Benz has invested more than $7 billion in its Alabama operations - $1 billion in the last five years - since the mid-90s, and employs around 4,500 people. The automaker currently builds four vehicles at its Alabama plant: the GLE and GLS sport utility vehicles, the GLE coupé, and the GLS Maybach luxury SUV.

According to the company, the new SUV has the option to seat seven people and uses the modular architecture for premium and luxury class electric vehicles.

“The new model combines the progressive design and comfort of the EQS sedan with the space and versatility of the popular SUV concept,” the company said in an announcement. “In the interior, intuitive digital controls and innovative trim elements merge to create an avant-garde ambience.”

There was a lot of talk a few years ago about some sort of revolutionary catalyzing coating that going to be applied to auto A/C condensers that was supposed rid the environment of one of the harmful ICE pollutants (CO maybe?). It was going to make an ICE auto a net pollution reducer (at least one gas) by catalyzing more than it produces. Who knows, maybe it was another 200MPG carburetor?

Saw something on TV last Sunday that showed that, basically, "fracking" using geothermal will bring up all the lithium we need for the batteries.

I have read through this and, like most topics that cannot be explained in a bumper sticker, there are a lot of "personal opinions" and "no progress for me" (DROP THAT SMART PHONE!) ideas stated.
I am old now, and will not be here for this, but it SEEMS as if:

    1. we are destroying the planet at a record rate and it is not slowing down. not believing this does not make it false, unfortunately.
    2. there may not be a planet by the time any of this matters
    3. given that man is the only species that intentionally harms each other for no reason, it seems that either this guy or the next in Russia will blow us all up in the name of "empire" building
    4. there is no shortage of insanity amongst humans
    and finally:

The further quantum physicists peer into the nature of reality, the more evidence they are finding that everything is energy at the most fundamental levels.

As Einstein said, “Reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one.”

    Cheers!

I believe the planet is much more resilient than many humans give it credit for being.

While man does an impressive job of contaminating the planet and may ultimately make it a place where it is impossible for humans to survive, I believe that the Earth will be here long after the last human dies and will eventually return to its own natural state.

If you want to think about what is truly the most likely scenario, I suspect what will happen is that humans will continue damaging the planet until it gets to the point that our own survival becomes a huge challenge.

At that point the population of humans will begin to decline and, as the population declines, the Earth will start healing itself.

This process will continue until a level of equilibrium is reached.

That cycle may take hundreds, or even thousands of years to play out, but I believe that is the most likely scenario to occur.

Thinking about it in those terms, the bigger question becomes, what would you like the population of the Earth to be? Because, the cleaner you make the planet, and the more efficient humans become, the more humans the planet will support (and we will eventually get to whatever level of population the Earth will support). So, do you want the planet to be clean enough to support 5 billion humans, or 100 billion?

Best we can hope for is get thru life, have a few laughs, have fun, be content, then we expire.

This whole electric car craze has nothing to do with "saving the planet"
It has everything to do with MONEY, pure and simple.
People, companies want to "get in" on the action, a piece of the pie.
They throw in "environmentally friendly" to put you on a guilt trip for driving your I.C.E because you like it or you cant afford an electric vehicle.
