Been reading here and there on porting. The Power Source V6 book says the floor/short turn radius of the intake port is most important, 1/16 " off the floor and no more as theres water underneath. In my mind, focusing on the floor of the intake makes sense as the piston is drawing the A/F mixture downward, yes? On the exhaust, the roof is most important as the exhaust gasses are being pushed upwards by the piston more or less, yes?
Mark, a couple more tips, think of a ski slope rather than a ski jump. The lower corners on both sides in the throat. Use a caliper to measure and compare ports. Leave intake rough and smooth exhaust and chamber. Clean up bowl and bullet shape around guide. Dyno proven around 30 HP gain. I've done quite a few heads. Was planning on building my own flow bench. Get Vizard's book on head porting.
