I like your dad's car. It's neat that he is the original owner. Do you have anything to bring to the pure stock races ?

Dad will be racing his red 67 hemi Corronet, and next year by the 131 race I hopefully will be running a Blue 67 Hemi GTX that my dad and I are building. I am starting to look for my own car to build. I am not a one brand guy but i would like to build something a little different but stay with the pure stock theme. Kind of want either 63 dodge 415 horse max wedge 64 plymouth 415 horse max wedge, or 70-71 Buick skylark/GS project. Kind of leaning towards the buick.

We own all of those machines: 63 Polara 500, maxie, 64 Sport Fury, maxie and 70 GSX, stage 1. It would be hard to call the winner. All are great cars. Something that you may or may not know is that the Dodge moved to a 119" wheelbase beginning in 63 while the Plymouth remained at 116". Meanwhile the Buick is 112" so it is by far the smaller car. But the factory dyno for the Buick 455, Stage 1 showed 376 hp ( per D.Manner) while the 426 Stage III maxie put out a whopping 490 horsepower on the factory dyno for showroom cars (per Bob Hoover). The stage IV maxie showed 517 hp on the factory dyno.

    Hey John.
I see there isn't a screening process involved with joining this board. Hahaha. Its about time you broke down and joined. Welcome aboard. I cant wait to see the ride you and your dad are currently building. I hope all goes well and you are burning rubber at 131 come next June. As far as the project of your own. Keep on looking, and something will turn up. Good luck, and let me know if you need any help.
