In my opinion this is what Dodge should've done in the beginning when they decided to reintroduce the charger line. A 4 door charger isn't really a charger in my eyes. Too bad they wont actually follow through with this.
I don’t mind ‘too many doors’ nearly as much as ‘wrong wheels spin’, ‘engine’s sideways’ or ‘not enough power’. Patrick https://www.caranddriver.com/dodge/charger https://www.caranddriver.com/buick/regal-gs
I'm also a fan of the idea of a 2 door charger but the 4 door sedan has been selling pretty well. In 2019 it outsold the mustang, camaro and challenger. Hell the styling and engine availability on it makes a perfect balance between grocery getter and track star.
The 4dr Chargers are pretty popular with the low life carjackers these days, i'd imagine a 2dr would be even more desirable to them.
I do wish they had made a 2 door or even a 4 door charger that had body lines closer to the original. The hellcat definitely caught my eye. Definitely nailed it.
Hi, Yeah the Charger has always missed the mark imo, should have been offered in a 2 door, and manual transmission Personally went with a 2020 Challenger Either way they are some of the faster offerings on the market. That first 2 door image I had read on a Challenger site was a rendering, but would be neat if someone built it Regards, Jim
Don't think there would be enough of a difference between a 2 dr Charger and Challenger to make it viable today, not everyone that wants a performance car can deal with a coupe and the Charger gives those that need a 4 door the option of having a performance car. I doubt anyone ever walked out of dealer because a Charger is a 4 door, they just walked over to the Challenger and visa versa. The Charger handily outsells the Challenger
The trouble with the Charger - aside from the lack of a manual transmission - is that Mopar makes the grille uglier every year. The charger has morphed from a car that I really liked into one that I doubt that I would buy. I love the '05 Magnum RT that we have had since it was new, but sadly they haven't made one for years. I'd buy the twin to the '05 without any mods whatsoever if it was still made.
Now this is closer to the real deal. Too bad they're only making 10 of them. BUT if demand for them persists they may make tons more kinda like the company that makes the Eleanor GT500 Mustang's.
Challengers are most true to original muscle cars as available. Get one before they are gone forever.
I read an article that FCA dropped the limited slip rear end in the Charger a few years ago unless u purchased the SRT option. Anyone have different info? My son purchased a 2017 black RT, new, and really likes it but no "posi".
Love my 2020 R/T Scat Pack Daytona. I love the way it looks. Great bang for the buck. Drives and handles very well. The 20x9.5 wheels that come with the Daytona package help a lot without tram lining like some wider wheels do. The 6.4 litre 392 has more than enough power for street driving at a little more than half the price of a Hellcat. Lightly optioned car as it came with a lot standard and the Daytona package added basically everything else I wanted, so it is relatively light weight considering its size. Use it as a daily NYC commuter car, plus lots of fun drives anytime I want. It will do a 12.3 ET or better on the Drag strip and on a road racing track will go and stop pretty good too. If I want a two door or sports car I take my AMG GTS or one of my Gran Sports.
