into the fertile Ohio soil! My son and I stripped this old relic of a few parts. It's future looks bleak. The car will be buried with a bulldozer any day now. Another one bites the dust! It was a factory 1969 GS350 California, red in color with a white painted roof and a black bench seat interior, no air, and those relatively rare 14" road wheels with the trim rings.
I love pictures of cars in this state...like in a Hemmings calendar. Rear decklid trim and emblem were history. The owner yanked the rearend out with a chain for his buddy's Chevelle. :eek2:
It looks like there's the GS California emblem on the passenger side rear. Are those rare emblems? What's the other car in the background of the last picture?
Hi Steve-yea they probably are rare. The left one was bent and the stud broke when I put a wrench on the right one. I seriously doubt there is a usable part left on that Calif GS.
That's too bad. How is the core support? I'm sure you looked there first of course. What about wing windows, and don't overlook that fan belt sitting inside! :Brow:
That's the pumpkin! I brought her home with me, but I am still unsure on what to do with her. I call her pumpkin because shes the "GS Fireglow" orange special "Q" code paint and it came to me at Halloween. It is a 1969 GS350 Sport Coupe and an uncompleted frame-off project.
OK, this makes no sense to me! With scrap prices here in FL approaching $3.50/100 why would you do that. Your scrap rates have to be at least $3/100. That carcass has to weight close to 2000 lbs. So, that is worth at least $60.
It's not my decision. The car is on his land and he can do whatever he wants to it. I had heard scrap was high but maybe he has an alternative reason for bulldozing it. o No:
Hi Jim, The fellow actually went to his buddies house and got the other two wheels off the rearend. So I do have a set of 4 wheels. I had the tires taken off {I can't believe what these places charge - plus the stinking tire disposal charge} and was going to get the wheels sandblasted. Amazingly, all four still had very tight trim rings with just a few dings. Jim, can you post a picture of your car with the wheels installed? Can you buy identical trim rings anywhere?
This is the only pic I got. The last owner sent this one to me. I really dont know where to get replacement rings. I have been told they are very rare.
I notice that the passengers side hadn't been hit and was wondering what the inner fender looks like?? I live in Nashville how far is that to Hebron. If it's in decent shape I'd take it.
GS California Hi Brian, I sure would like to have a GS California name plate for my Buick collection on the garage wall, even a junk one would be better than none. What do you want for one? Thanks, Mike
